I’m on Campus: A first for university candidates in Turkey

A first in Turkey!
University candidates can now attend lectures with students

The new Sabancı University project “I’m on Campus” lets prospective university students join freshman courses alongside students for the first time in Turkey.  Registration for the program began on February 1, 2013.  Prospective university students and high school teachers will be able to attend courses on days of their own choice between February 11 and June 11, 2013.

Sabancı University, Turkey’s most innovative and entrepreneurial university, starts the “I’m on Campus” project for prospective university students.  The project enables prospective students to attend lectures alongside university students, and spend a day on Sabancı University campus experiencing university life.

University candidates and high school teachers can choose between 52 subjects in the Sabancı University Nature and Science and Humanity and Society courses, or attend laboratory sessions held by the Academic Support Program.  Participants will be able to join lectures on every specified date depending on availability.  Lectures will be in English.  Students may apply personally or high school teachers may apply for a group of students.

Lectures by internationally recognized faculty members
The lectures which university candidates will attend next to university students will be given by Sabancı University faculty members who have extensive recognition both in Turkey and abroad.

The Nature and Science lectures will be given by Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences members Selmiye Alkan Gürsel, Burç Mısırlıoğlu, Erdal Toprak and Süphan Bakkal, while the Humanity and Society courses will be given by Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences members Ayhan Akman and Ayşe Kadıoğlu.  Candidates will also be able to attend the Ecology and Evolution lecture given by Harvard and Sabancı University faculty member Dr. Andrew Berry.
